Expert Witness:
Taser Trained--Self Defense & Use of Force

Mr. Smith was recognized as an expert witness on 2/13/2007 in San Bernardino Superior Court
Division S27A in front of Honorable Judge Ronald Christianson. That case involved a
Security Guard shooting his assailant who was armed with a screwdriver.

Mr. Smith is recognized as an expert in Law Enforcement Use of Force issues. Mr. Smith has 30 years of law enforcement experience and extensive background in law enforcement training.  During his Law Enforcement career he experienced first hand several Critical incidents in which deadly force had to be applied. He was also shot in the line of duty during his career.

Mr. Smith started his expertise after 5/1981 when he was forced to use deadly force. Mr. Smith decided after that incident, if he was going to stay in the Law Enforcement, he needed to learn as much as possible in use of force issues. He spent the next 20 years becoming an expert in Use of Force Issues.

Mr. Smith has more than 15 years in training Law enforcement personnel in use of force issues. Mr. Smith
received his Lifetime Vocational Teaching Credential in the State of California. He has trained personnel on local, state, and national level.

Mr. Smith had his book published by Southern Illinois University which was titled “Self Defense for Men and Women.”

Training Specialist at San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Academy. I was responsible for training approximately 7000 employees every quarter in Verbal Skills, Baton, Handcuffing, Chemical Agents, and Firearms
